POWERGEN 2027

POWERGEN runs January 18–21, 2027 at the Salt Palace Convention Center in Salt Lake City, Utah. PacifiCorp is the host utility.

What it is

POWERGEN is a conference and exhibition for the power generation industry, run by Clarion Events. The organizer calls it "a business and networking hub for thousands of electricity generators, utilities and solution-providers." The 2027 program is framed around load growth, driven by data centers, industrial expansion and electrification, and what it takes to bring new capacity online.

The organizer names six groups who attend:

• Utilities: plant optimization, outage planning, emissions compliance and new-generation planning.
• Independent power producers: repowering, retrofits, financing and market intelligence.
• EPC and engineering firms: project delivery, permitting and supply-chain risk.
• Self-generators: commercial and industrial sites adding onsite, behind-the-meter or cogeneration power.
• Data centers: developers, operators and hyperscalers looking for reliable power on tight schedules.
• OEMs and technology providers: turbines, generators, controls, storage and digital tools, mostly on the exhibit floor.

Program

The conference is organized by topic. Tracks include gas turbine and combined cycle, data centers, nuclear, O&M and asset life, resource and capacity planning, interconnection, project development and delivery, onsite power, digital modernization, supply chain and procurement, outage planning, EPC contracting, efficiency and emissions, workforce and safety, energy storage and hybrids, and steam cycle and HRSG. Keynotes, workshops and peer-to-peer roundtables sit alongside the technical sessions.

Practical details

• Registration is by company type: owner/operator, general and solution provider passes, plus group packages that are only for utilities and IPPs.
• PDHs: professional development hours are issued after you fill in the post-show survey sent on the last day, and the certificate is emailed.
• Age rules: children under 14 are not allowed. Minors 15 and older may be approved case by case, and spouses can be added to a registration.
• Housing: Connections Housing is the only official housing company. The organizer warns about other firms claiming to be its housing vendor.
• Attendee list: none is distributed. Registered attendees can find each other in the event app.
