What it is

StorePoint Retail is an invite-only hosted-buyer event for big box and specialty retail, run by Emerald under its CPMG events portfolio. It matches retail executives with suppliers who design, build and service the store environment.

The retailers attending are decision makers in category management, store design, store development, store planning, strategic sourcing and visual merchandising. Supplier categories include:

• fixtures and displays (including POP), millwork and checkouts, flooring
• lighting, graphics and signage, décor and furniture, fabrics and finishes
• carts and material handling equipment, technology
• logistics, merchandising, and resets, rollouts and installations services

How the format works

The organizer says this is not a traditional trade show. Suppliers present to boardroom peer groups of 7–9 retail executives in 20-minute slots, then hold private 15-minute one-on-one appointments with retailers. Keynote and content sessions and a full networking schedule complete the program.

Qualified retailers help build their own agenda, and the organizer pays their air, hotel and meals. Suppliers buy presentation and meeting packages that guarantee meetings with relevant buyers. The packages include meals, all social events and a directory listing, and sponsorships are optional.

Schedule shape

• Saturday, January 23: arrivals and badge pickup
• Sunday, January 24: optional tours (the Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum, or a Nashville Barrel Company bourbon and BBQ tour; pre-registration required), then orientations, the opening keynote at 6 p.m. and a welcome reception
• Monday and Tuesday: boardroom presentations in the morning, one-on-one appointments in the afternoon, dinner each evening
• Wednesday, January 27: departures only, with airport shuttles and a grab-and-go breakfast from 4 to 10 a.m.
