SPE Annual Technical Conference and Exhibition 2026

The Society of Petroleum Engineers' yearly technical conference and exhibition. It brings together technical experts, industry leaders, exhibitors, students and emerging professionals from the global energy community for a multidisciplinary technical program, strategic panels and an expo floor.

SPE Annual Technical Conference and Exhibition runs October 21–23, 2026 at George R. Brown Convention Center, Houston.

What it is

The Society of Petroleum Engineers organizes ATCE. SPE says it "brings together technical experts, industry leaders, exhibitors, students, and emerging professionals from across the global energy community." The 2026 theme is "Exploring New Horizons with Innovative Solutions". The event combines a multidisciplinary technical paper program, strategic panels and special sessions, and an expo floor where organizations show emerging technologies, products and services.

Exhibition hours

The exhibition is in Halls B and C on Level 1 of the convention center.

• Wednesday, October 21: 9:00–18:00, opening with a ribbon cutting at 9:00 and ending with the Welcome Reception on the floor
• Thursday, October 22: 9:00–17:00
• Friday, October 23: 9:00–14:00. The last day is short, though technical sessions run on until 16:30.

Registration opens the day before, on Tuesday, October 20, and the technical section receptions are held that evening.

Registration and ticketed events

• A full conference registration covers all sessions, the exhibition, the breaks on the exhibit floor and one digital copy of the proceedings.
• One-day and exhibits-only visitor registrations do not include the proceedings. SPE members can get a complimentary exhibits-only pass.
• Rates rise in steps from advance to standard to on-site.
• The Wednesday Keynote Luncheon, the Thursday Awards Banquet and the Friday President's Luncheon need their own tickets. These must be bought in advance, and none are sold at the door.

On the program

The floor also hosts a Future Talent Zone, SPE Pavilion Talks and Knowledge Sharing ePoster presentations. Thursday brings the Startup Village energy startup competition, and Friday has an SPE Energy Professionals Hiring Event. The Hilton Americas-Houston is the preferred hotel.
