Bouchercon 2027
About Bouchercon
A mystery and crime fiction convention featuring author panels, discussions, and networking opportunities.
Bouchercon 2027 in Washington, DC
Bouchercon 2027 runs September 1–5, 2027 in Washington, DC, at the Omni Shoreham Hotel in the Woodley Park neighbourhood, a short walk from the Smithsonian National Zoo, Rock Creek Park and the Metro. The local organising committee has titled the convention Mystery Most Monumental.
What it is
Bouchercon, the World Mystery Convention, is a nonprofit that holds an annual convention in honour of Anthony Boucher, the mystery fiction critic, editor and author. It brings readers, writers, booksellers, press and publishing professionals together across the genre: cozies, thrillers, humorous, historical, nonfiction, noir and traditional mysteries.
The 2027 guests of honour are S.A. Cosby and Laura Joh Rowland (national), Martin Edwards (international), Laura Lippman (lifetime achievement) and George Pelecanos (local), with Barbara Neely honoured in memoriam and Art Taylor as toastmaster.
Before you go
- Register on the convention site only. Bouchercon says registration is completed only through each convention's own website, that it never sends payment links by email or text, and that registrations cannot be transferred.
- Hotel rooms follow registration. The group rate at the Omni Shoreham is open to registered attendees only: the booking link arrives in the registration confirmation email, with one room per registration.
- Literary salons are new. Freeform, minimally moderated conversations held in the round after the day's panels or over lunch, open to all registered attendees. Announced topics include book reviewing (Thursday, September 2, evening), books adapted for the screen, espionage and political fiction, and mystery collecting.
- Anthology and charity. The convention anthology, Power Corrupts, launches on September 1, 2027 with 25 selected stories. Proceeds from it and from the live and silent auctions go to the DC Public Library Foundation and the Free Minds Book Club and Writing Workshop.
Later conventions
Bouchercon lists Indianapolis for 2028 and Miami for 2029.
