What it is

EFA is a conference and exhibition on senior living design, covering the long-term and residential care environments where older adults live. The organizer lists architects, owners, developers, facilities managers, design professionals, product manufacturers, government officials, and gerontologists and other aging experts among the people who attend. Environments for Aging magazine presents the show, and Emerald runs it.

Conference, tours and credits

• The conference runs over two-plus days of shorter sessions built on case studies, research findings and design outcomes. The 2027 agenda is still being developed.
• Community tours and pre-conference workshops are held on the kickoff day. On the 2026 schedule these were add-ons that required an additional purchase.
• Continuing education credit is available for facility tours, workshops, keynotes and breakout sessions. In 2026 the credits were AIA, IDCEC and EDAC. To qualify, you must pay the conference registration in full, attend the whole session and have your badge scanned at the start.
• Spouses and partners of Full Conference pass holders can attend on a Guest pass. It covers keynotes, networking events and the exhibit hall, but not education sessions, workshops or tours.

Registration and hours

Registration for 2027 opens in the fall of 2026. Hotel reservations through the official housing provider, EvolveCon, also open in the fall.

Expo hours for 2027 have not been finalized. At the 2026 show, conference sessions were limited to Conference, Student and Educator badges, while the expo hall, keynotes and receptions were open to all badge types.
