MEMS 2027

IEEE MEMS is the annual IEEE International Conference on Micro Electro Mechanical Systems. It reports research on every aspect of MEMS and microsystems technology in a single-session format of oral and poster presentations, and its host city changes from year to year.

MEMS runs January 17–21, 2027 at Waikoloa Resort, Waikoloa.

What it is

IEEE MEMS 2027 is the 40th IEEE International Conference on Micro Electro Mechanical Systems. It is an annual research conference on MEMS and microsystems technology and the industrial trends around it.

The organizer says this year will "bring more industrial elements" to broaden the impact toward application scenarios. Exhibitors are part of the event, and the single-session format is meant to give attendees, presenters and exhibitors ample time to interact.

Solicited topics span MEMS development and applications:

• design, simulation and fabrication processes; silicon and non-silicon materials; assembly and packaging; metrology
• mechanical, thermal and magnetic sensors and actuators; opto-mechanical and fluidic microsystems
• microdevices for biomedical engineering, wireless communication, and power supply and energy harvesting; NEMS

Format and schedule

MEMS uses a single-session format, so there are no competing tracks for most of the week. Oral and poster sessions do not overlap, and exhibit inspection is built into every break and lunch. The published program overview:

• Sunday, January 17: Industry Session (13:00–17:00), then registration and a welcome reception
• Monday–Wednesday: a morning plenary each day, oral sessions, and a two-hour poster session each afternoon. Wednesday's sessions split into parallel a/b tracks, and the conference banquet runs 19:00–22:00 that evening.
• Thursday, January 21: a final plenary and two sessions, then the awards ceremony. The conference adjourns at 12:15.
