bauma runs April 3–9, 2028 at the Messe München trade-fair center in Munich, Germany.

What it is

bauma is Messe München's trade fair for construction machinery, building material machines, mining machines, construction vehicles and construction equipment. The organizer calls it "the world's leading trade fair" for that industry. It is held every three years, so the next one after 2028 is bauma 2031.

Only companies whose products fall under at least one of the fair's official exhibition sectors can exhibit. The sectors range from construction and commercial vehicles, excavators, loaders and compaction equipment to road-building machinery and drilling rigs. The bauma Mining exhibition area covers mining technology.

Program

The organizer's program page still describes 2025, and says details for 2028 will follow. In 2025 the program included:

• bauma LAB0, an innovation hall with keynotes, panels and exhibitor presentations, which hosted the bauma FORUM focus days, a Startup Area and a Science Hub
• live demonstrations of machines and construction vehicles
• THINK BIG!, a careers event for students
• the bauma Innovation Award

Planning a visit

Opening hours for 2028 have not been published yet. The organizer says it will post them on the opening-hours page once they are set. The exhibitor directory is online, and a bauma app goes live shortly before the fair.

Visitors can use free Wi-Fi across the grounds. Messe München no longer issues official invitation letters for trade-fair visas, so visitors who need a visa should contact their embassy early. Only guide and assistance dogs are admitted, and drones cannot be flown anywhere on the grounds during the fair.
