Christmas Village Festival is an annual five-day holiday shopping show in Birmingham, Alabama. Hundreds of vendors sell holiday décor, apparel, jewelry, gourmet treats and handcrafted gifts. Marketplace Events produces it after buying it from its founding family.

What it is

Christmas Village Festival is a five-day public holiday shopping show. Vendors sell holiday décor, apparel, jewelry, gourmet food, toys and gifts, and boutiques come from around the country. The organizer bills it as "more than 750+ booths on two floors" and says more than half the show is handcrafted artisan goods.

It began as an Alabama family business. Marketplace Events bought it along with its sister show, Cottontail's Village, and now produces it. Marketplace Events is a North American producer of consumer and trade shows, and it also runs the Birmingham Home Show.

Days, hours and ticket types

The week is split by ticket type, so check which one you hold:

• Wednesday, November 4 (VIP Day): 9:00 am – 4:00 pm. VIP Admission is the only ticket accepted that day, and everyone aged 6 and up needs one. Strollers, wagons and other wheeled carts are not allowed on VIP Day.
• Thursday–Saturday, November 5–7: general admission 10:00 am – 7:00 pm. Early Shopper ticket holders get in an hour early, at 9:00 am.
• Sunday, November 8: general admission 12:00 pm – 5:00 pm, and Early Shopper entry at 11:00 am. It is the shortest day.

Online tickets cost less than tickets at the box office. Child tickets for ages 6–12 are not valid on VIP Day or during Early Shopper hours. Children 5 and under get in free.

Group rates are available for groups of 20 or more. Every ticket is good for one day.

On the floor

Santa takes pictures during show hours on the top floor. A Package Check in the East Hall holds purchases while you shop. The organizer warns that Saturday is a very busy day around the venue.
