What it is

HealthSpaces calls itself "the retreat for healthcare facilities leaders" and "the opposite of a trade show." It is an invite-only gathering where real-estate, facilities, design and construction executives from health systems meet peers and a small group of selected vendors. Attendance is limited to 250 people.

Influence Group produces it, as part of CloserStill Media. Influence Group's other retreats include RetailSpaces, HotelSpaces, WorkSpaces, the Senior Living Innovation Forum and the Home Care Innovation Forum.

How it works

• Who can come: health-system facilities leaders request an invitation. Qualified executives attend at no cost, and the invitation covers two nights' lodging, meals and networking excursions.
• Vendors: they take part as partners. Executives review the partner list in advance and book pre-scheduled 20-minute one-on-one "sourcing sessions" with the vendors they choose.
• Content: TED-style talks, fireside chats and small "mastermind" roundtables. Recent topics included retail-to-healthcare adaptive reuse, modular construction, capital planning, building for disaster resilience and AI in hospitals.

Sample schedule

The organizer's sample agenda runs from a Sunday late-morning welcome and evening keynote dinner, through a full Monday of talks, sourcing sessions and roundtables, to a Tuesday that ends with a noon brunch. Monday opens with group fitness at 6 a.m. The organizer notes that the final agenda is still to come.
