IETF (Internet Engineering Task Force) Meetings 2027

The IETF holds three week-long meetings a year, rotating among Asia, Europe and North America. The Working Groups that develop Internet standards meet there in person and online. They are working sessions for engineers, operators and researchers, with no exhibit hall or booths.

IETF 129 in Berlin

IETF 129 runs July 17–23, 2027 at the Berlin Intercontinental, Budapester Str. 2, Berlin. Nokia is the host.

What it is

The Internet Engineering Task Force holds its meetings three times a year around the world, so that participants can work in person. The IETF describes them as in-person opportunities to advance its work, which otherwise takes place mostly online, and runs interim meetings between them on specific issues. Meetings are organised by the IETF Administration LLC, which provides the corporate home for the IETF and supports its meetings.

How the week runs

• Weekend: the IETF Hackathon and IETF Code Sprint take place on the opening Saturday and Sunday.
• Sunday afternoon: events to help new participants get the most out of the meeting begin. The IETF publishes an introduction to IETF meetings for first-timers.
• Monday–Friday: sessions run all week, and the meeting ends on Friday afternoon. The IETF advises planning travel accordingly.

• Registration, registration fee waivers and terms and conditions are linked from the meeting page.
• Visa and letter-of-invitation (LOI) information, childcare, floor plans, a participant wiki with local information and the meeting network details are linked from the meeting page.
• Side meetings that are not part of the official agenda get limited support from the IETF.
