The World Hydrogen Technologies Convention (WHTC) is an international convention on hydrogen energy and fuel-cell technology, with International Association for Hydrogen Energy leaders on its advisory committee. It gives researchers, industry and government a platform to present the latest scientific research and market developments.

WHTC - World Hydrogen Technologies Convention runs September 14–16, 2027 at Halifax Convention Centre, Halifax.

What it is

The World Hydrogen Technologies Convention is an international meeting for hydrogen energy and fuel-cell technology. It presents the latest scientific research and market developments to delegates from industry, academia and government. The advisory committee includes Ayfer Veziroglu and Giuseppe Spazzafumo.

The convention site lists them as President and Executive Vice President of the International Association for Hydrogen Energy. A local organizing committee in Halifax, chaired by Dr. Graham Gagnon, runs the 2027 meeting. Companies can take part as sponsors or exhibitors.

Symposium topics

The symposium is organized around seven topic areas:

1. Electrolyzer, hydrogen production and storage technologies
2. Fuel cells and end-use power technologies
3. Hydrogen systems for marine and coastal applications, flagged as a topic of local importance
4. Hydrogen safety, standards and public trust
5. Hydrogen economics, finance and markets
6. Grid/hydrogen co-optimization
7. Hydrogen-derived fuels, chemicals and value chains

Two panels are proposed. One covers workforce, skills and industrial transition. The other covers emerging hydrogen opportunities such as natural (white) hydrogen.
