What it is

World's Leading Wines is a series of importer and distributor sourcing events run by Commerce Interact Ltd., a London-based organizer with a dedicated wine trade division. Wine producers looking for distribution in new export markets meet the buyers: the owners, CEOs and head wine buyers of established, quality-focused importers. The organizer says only importers and distributors who are actively sourcing take part, and it picks them based on how relevant the participating wines are to their portfolio, their current demand and the strength of their distribution.

It describes the events as "intimate, private, invite only B2B events". This is a trade meeting, not a public tasting.

Format

• A market briefing and Q&A by an established local importer, held before the tasting.
• A walk-around trade tasting in a small-room setting.
• A seated dinner with networking, where producers can reshow their wines and hold follow-up talks with interested buyers.

Invited buyers receive each producer's product details and pricing before the tasting, so meetings tend to be with buyers already interested. The organizer also caps the number of producers from any one region, and the total, based on how many importers are in each market. Event details, pricing and registration are available on request through the organizer's form rather than published.
