The American Library Association's 2027 Annual Conference & Exhibition runs June 24–28, 2027 in New Orleans, Louisiana.

What it is

The Annual Conference & Exhibition is the American Library Association's yearly conference. ALA says it "explores key challenges and opportunities facing libraries," with professional development rooted in research, innovation and best practices.

Library workers, supporters, authors and exhibitors are all invited. Programming includes education sessions and poster presentations chosen through an open call for proposals.

Program and posters

• The call for 2027 program and poster proposals is now closed. Submissions ran from August 24 to September 21, 2026, and ALA plans to send notifications in December 2026.
• Education programs and posters have separate submission sites, guides and rubrics.
• ALA currently plans for programs and posters to be presented in person only. It reserves the right to hold the conference virtually, in person or as a hybrid.
• Presenters pay their own travel, accommodation and registration. Presenters on accepted programs or posters can get a registration discount.
• All presenters and attendees must follow ALA's Statement of Appropriate Conduct at ALA Conferences.

The conference moves to a different city each year. ALA's published schedule of future Annual Conferences:

• Chicago, IL: June 28–July 2, 2029
• New Orleans, LA: June 20–24, 2030
• Philadelphia, PA: June 26–30, 2031
• Chicago, IL: June 24–28, 2032
• Anaheim, CA: June 23–27, 2033

The conference was last held in New Orleans in 2018. ALA's divisions also hold their own conferences, symposia and institutes during the year.
